Amanita gemmata

Description
Cap hemispherical, then convex to plane, Ø 5-7 cm, smooth, pale ochrous yellow to lemon-yellow, with white patches and a pale, striped margin.
Gills white.
Stem 7-10 cm x 8-12 mm, smooth, white, pale yellow at the apex, with an evanescent, white ring, the large bulbous base encased in a membranous volva.
Flesh white. Smell faint
Poisonous.

Occurrence
In broad-leaved and coniferous woods and avenues, near Beech, Oak and Fir, on poor, acid soil. Summer to autumn.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
