Western Flat-topped Agaricus


Description
Cap hemispherical, Ø 3-5 cm, fine downy warty, light yellow-brown, then expanding in a bell-shape, surface breaking up into small scales and/or in black brown scales which more or less are order concentrically around the centre, which stay intact.
Gills widely expanded, white to lemon yellow.
Stem 4-6.5 cm x 5-10 mm, light yellow brown, stringy fibrillose or fine scaly, often with yellow blotches and with a evanescent ring and a black base with white mycelium thread.

Occurrence
On fresh heated compost heaps of leaves of broad-leaved trees and in hot houses.
Saprophyte.
