Lepiota aspera

Description
Cap conical or campanulate to expanded, Ø 6-8 cm, light to dark brown, with dark brown, upturned, acute scales on a white to cream background and with a shaggy margin.
Gills forked, white.
Stem 8-10 x 1-2 cm, white at the apex, below membranous, white ring cream to pale brown with brown, upturned scales and a slightly swollen base. Flesh white. Smell disagreeably pungent.
Poisonous.

Occurrence
On humus or litter in broad-leaved and coniferous woods, parks and gardens on rich soil.
Saprophyte.
