Description
Cap hemispherical to expanded, Ø 5-9 cm, with grey-brown scales on a whitish background, yellowing on bruising.
Gills pink to black-brown.
Stem 6-9 cm x 10-12 mm, whitish, with scales, below the membranous ring whitish to pale brown, bulbous base, yellowing on bruising. Flesh white, becoming yellow. Taste strong, unpleasant.
Poisonous.

Occurrence
On humus-rich soil in dune scrub and broad-leaved woods on humus-rich, rich and calcareous soil. Summer-autumn.
Saprophyte.
