Description
Cap hemispherical to convex or expanded, Ø 5-15 cm, smooth, white, strongly discolouring chrome yellow on bruising.
Gills or pink to grey-brown.
Stem 5-15 x 1-2 cm, white, with a white ring and a swollen base. Flesh white, becoming chrome yellow at the base. Taste unpleasant. Smell of phenol.
Poisonous.

Occurrence
On the ground in (young) broad-leaved woods, parks and public gardens on rich, calcareous soil.
Saprophyte.
