Description
Fruit-body dome- to apple-shaped, Ø 6-15 mm, with long stem. Outer surface smooth, parchment-like, cream or light ochrous brown to whitish, with a central, papilla-like opening surrounded by a yellow to brown ring-shaped zone, Ø 1.5 mm.
Stem 2-5 cm x 1-3 mm, tough, smooth, ochre, brown towards the base, with basal bulb, largely remaining below the surface.

Occurrence
On dry, calcareous sandy and loamy soil deficient in humus, among mosses in sand dunes, in dune pastures and calcareous grasslands an sunny slopes and on sand drifts covered with vegetation.
