Description
Fruit-body spherical to pear-shaped, Ø 2-6 cm, with short stem. Outer surface with evanescent spines, 3-6 mm long, pointed, dense, light to dull brown, leaving a regular reticular pattern, light to dark brown, with a central opening. Flesh olive-yellow brown.
Occurrence
On humus-rich, calcareous soil in broad-leaved woods (Beech).
Saprophyte.
