Description
Fruit-body globose, Ø 2-3 cm, with white mycelium strand. Outer surface matt, white, coming loose in scales or plaques, revealing the green-grey to leaden inner layer. With central opening. Flesh grey-brown to olive-brown.

Occurrence
On dry to damp sandy soil in hay lands, often mowed grasslands, roadsides and dykes and in clearings and along paths in woods and dune scrub.
Saprophyte.
