Phellinus conchatus

Description
Fruit-body perennial, hard, thick, crust-like, occasionally with several imbricate, bracket-like caps of 1-4 x 1-2 cm. Upper surface concentrically zoned and dark brown to black-brown. With several, stratified tube layers. Pores 3-6 per mm, angular to dentate, rusty brown to grey-brown.
Spore-print colour pale yellow.

Occurrence
On trunks of dead and living deciduous trees (Willow, Poplar) in mixed woods on calcareous soil.
Parasitic. (Saprophyte).
