Description
Fruit-body annual, 4-12 cm, branched in a candle-like shape, branches close together with cup-shaped, deepened, crown-like, toothed ends, at the base grown together in a stump, pale flesh-coloured to beige or ochreous yellow.
Flesh yellow-white, tough, turning brown when bruised.
Taste mild, bitter. Smell strong, spicy.

Occurrence
On lying, debarked trunks, especially of Poplars (Aspen).
Saprophyte.
