Description
Cap obtusely conical, then convex to plane, Ø 5-9 cm, smooth, silky, grey-brown to red-brown. Gills white.
Stem 10-13 cm x 8-15 mm, striped, whitish with grey-violet base, with thin, striped, grey-violet ring and a pronouncedly rimmed, bulbous base, encased in a volva. Flesh white. Smell musty.
Suspicious.
Occurrence
In broad-leaved and coniferous woods (Fir) and avenues on poor sandy soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
