Description
Cap globose, then expanded to plane, Ø 8-20 cm, smooth, bright red, becoming pale orange yellow, with evanescent pyramidal and white warts.
Gills white.
Stem 8-18 x 1-2 cm, white, floccose at the base, with whit to yellowish ring. Flesh white. Smell faint.
Poisonous.

Occurrence
In woods and avenues near broad-leaved trees (Birch, Oak, Beech and Lime) and coniferous trees (Fir and Spruce) on sandy and peaty soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
