Description
Fruit-body pear- to globose, Ø 2-6 cm, 3-8 cm high, with stem. Upper part with evanescent spines and conical warts, leaving a regular pattern, whitish to yellowish or greyish brown, with a central opening.
Stem 2-5 cm high, up to 3 cm thick, warty to smooth, whitish to yellowish grey-brown. Flesh white to olive-brown. Edible.

Occurrence
On humus-rich, usually sandy soil in woods, shrubberies and parks.
Saprophyte.
