Milk-caps
An extensive group of Agarics with firm, usually flattened funnel-shaped fruit-bodies, when damaged exuding milk which may or may not discolour, see Lactarius chrysorrheus (570.jpg) and more or less decurrent gills.
Forming compact ectomycorrhiza (35.jpg). Spores white, cream, creamy yellow or flesh-pink (21.jpg). In Britain more than 25 species of the genus Lactarius occur.
