Spine Fungi
Auriscalpiaceae, Bankeraceae, Boletopsidiaceae and Hydnaceae form a group of Basidiomycetes with spines, or, exceptionally, with shallow pores (Genus Boletopsis) or gills (Genus Lentinellus) on the underside of the cap. The species of the genera Hydnellum, Hydnum, Phellodon and Sarcodon develop ectomycorrhizas along tree roots.
