A small group of brown, funnel-shaped or shell- to fan-shaped Agarics, related to Boleti, with gills that easily peel from the cap and inrolled at the margin. Saprotrofic or mycorrhizal. Spores ochrous brown, rusty brown. In Britain 4 Paxillus species occur.
